All cows here at Mercer Vu Farms Inc. are milked three times per day.  Milkings are at 7AM, 3PM and 11PM, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  When it is time to be milked the milkers get us up and move us to the milking parlor.  Here Alphonso moves us to the parlor, and as he moves us he cleans our stalls.

Once we are moved from the barn we are loaded into a holding pen where we wait to be milked.  In the holding pen the floor is lined with rubber so it is soft on our feet and behind us we have a crowd gate which slowly moves forward and reminds us to move towards the milking parlor.

When the milkers are ready to milk us they open the entrance gate and we walk into the parlor.  We walk in single file and line up ready to milk.

At Mercer Vu Farms Inc. we always have a smooth plate.  In the concrete where we eat is ceramic tile which provides us a smooth eating surface.  Over time our saliva will make concrete rough which hurts our tongues and makes it difficult to eat.  The ceramic tile will always stay smooth which means we can always eat in comfort.
