OUR CURRENT OPERATION

Today Mercer-Vu Farms Inc. consists of 450 milking cows.  Cows are milked 3 times a day in the same double 8 herringbone that was built in the early 1970’s.  Cows are housed in the 1996 freestall barn and the 1972 barn.  The 1996 barn has slatted floors and step-gutter system.  Manure flows from the gutters to a 640,000 gallon circular tank.  The freestall barn has rubber filled mattresses, fans and sprinklers for maximum cow comfort.  We have manure storage for about 4 months from which manure is hauled to our fields.  Heifers are raised by custom heifer growers where they are grown to maturity and brought back before calving.  Feed is stored in bunker silos with commodities bought and stored in a commodity building.  Cropping consists of 700 acres.  We own 400 of those acres with 300 acres rented.  We raise 400 acres of corn, 150 acres of alfalfa, 100 acres of soybeans and 50 acres of mixed grass/pasture.    Along with Ron, Rick and Rod, the farm employs eight full-time employees who are wonderful contributors to our success.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT
